In our fun and relaxed Thursday 4:15pm Dance classes for children, we aim to build confidence and develop movement skills. Creativity is encouraged and we love to try the children’s dance ideas! We include Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz in our curriculum and use lots of different music styles and themes to allow the children’s imagination to flourish. We can’t wait to see you!
On a child’s first lesson to the term’s theme, they will be given all the props that they need for the term and ask please that they are brought to every class. Children can wear whatever they would like to and the only requirement is that it is clean on that day and there is something on the feet, such as ballet shoes, house slippers, gripped socks etc. Hair must be tied back from the face with a hair band/ hair clips etc away from the mouth.
In January and February, we’ll meet a princess who meets a frog! Through their adventures together, the frog receives a kiss from a princess, and is magically turned back into a handsome prince. We’ll be trying some Jazz Dance and Charleston moves too to make our own funky Dance routines to tell the story!
In March and April, join us in an enchanted forest where we’ll find Rapunzel trapped in her tower. When a young man discovers her, she lets down her long golden locks of hair for him to climb up and visit. Rapunzel escapes from the tower with him and they go on an adventure together to get Rapunzel back home. In our older children’s classes we’ll be trying some circle folk dances like in the Tangled film and dance with our own version of glowing lights.
Year 1 and 2 40-minute sessions take place at the Bradford on Avon Youth Centre, Thursdays 4:15-4:55pm. Trial sessions are £4.50 and can be booked by emailing bopaboutdance@gmail.com. 12-week fees are £64 and include all props to keep and use of costumes/accessories throughout the term.
